Mike "Mikey" Sewell (Class of 2005)

Inglemoor High School's Mike Sewell is a rare THREE-time state champion, having won three consecutive 4A wrestling titles from 2003-2005. He amassed a career record of 112 wins and only 3 losses--none in his home state of Washington.

Because Inglemoor (4A KingCo conference) is only a three-year high school, it is arguable that Mike could've challenged for a fourth title, as he was also undefeated in three years of junior high wrestling.

An aggressive and skilled takedown artist, he was best known for his cat-quick takedowns and "cutting" (letting up) his opponent, only to take them down again. Most of his matches were high-scoring affairs that ended in Technical Falls (a point difference of 15 points). In the rare instance a match was tied against a tough opponent in regulation, Mike is exceptionally conditioned and has never lost an overtime match.

An avid freestyle wrestler, Mike grew-up with the Northshore Mat Kids and found training with the Oregon Cobra Club to be valuable developmental experiences. As a cadet and junior, Mike wrestled in many national tournaments and was on the Washington State National Dual Meet team.

A 3.4 student with a rigorous, college-prep class schedule (Honors and Advanced Placement courses), he was heavily-recruited by Columbia University, North Carolina University, Northwestern, & University of Virginia.

Mike's older brother Paul wrestles for Columbia University.
